back BONES is

On the up side to some bad election news in Canada there is some nice news from the wonderful world of television :)

BONES season 7 confirmedEveryone’s favourite forensic crime fighter will be back for a lucky number seven. It is rather late at night but word came out a couple of hours ago that FOX has indeed renewed their solid performing crime solving couple for another season. While the show has never been the breakout hit that Grey’s Anatomy was BONES has been a very consistent, stable hit; indeed the show has not seen the drop in viewership that tends to come with age of a series, though it has also not see the increase in viewers that NCIS has either.

There is a new episode of BONES this week at 9pm ET and the season finale is on 19 May. With this renewal BONES will hit the 150th episode mark about this time next year as the season 6 finale is the 129th episode.

There had been some concern about the prospects of a seventh season thanks to some issues with contracts. If not for that it is likely that BONES would have been renewed a little while ago. There is a similar problem with House, MD but it is made more complicated by the fact that NBC Universal makes House, MD and it is over production costs and who will pay for what. There is a small chance that House, MD will not be back on FOX for the 2011-12 season; it could just be cancelled outright or it could end up with another broadcaster.

In other belated news the NBC Universal drama Fairly Legal, seen on USA in the USA and on Showcase in Canada, has been confirmed as renewed for a second season of 13 episodes. This was a fairly poorly kept secret since the cast of the show were among the talent being showcased at the USA up-front sales presentation.

And in news that is just a little bit out there, if you are a fan of Monopoly or a fan of Doctor Who then you might well be interested in the latest version of the classic board game. That’s right, a Doctor Who Monopoly game is due to be released on 31 August 2011 for the fabulous price of £26.99 This version features Matt Smith as The Eleventh Doctor and Karen Gillan as Amelia Jessica Pond.
