During the first season people were rather openly questioning why the show was called Cougar Town when the only single woman in the show older than 30 was dating men more of her own age. The producers joined in on that speculation. For the first season each episode had a title card which said "welcome to Cougar Town". Starting with season 2 they began playing with the title card. Some were just silly messages. Speculation about the purpose of the title was a regular theme. Other times there were just rather random messages. The quirky title cards continued for the third season. Once in a while the normal 'welcome to Cougar Town' would be used.
