Joel Spence is Detective Hodges

one of The Good Guys, sort of

Dectective Hodges an ambitious, by-the-book detective whose attitude has made him few friends on the police force. My that sounds like a description of Jack. Still, Hodges has some authority; he is second in command to Lt Ruiz. Noöne quite knows how he got that position. For some reason Hodges has it in for Dan. He has been wanted to bust Dan on something almost as long as he has know him. Even when there was an APB out on Dan and Hodges got in a high speed chase with Dan he still failed. Dan threw an open jug of sour milk in Hodges' car. When Dan was being investigated by Internal Affairs Hodges was the only one siding with IA. Trying to be a kind og "deep throat" Hodges had Assistant Chief Guthrie meet him in the parking garage. When Hodges reported Dan had done petty things like taking his stapler even Assistant Chief Guthrie sided with Dan in telling Hodges off.

Joel Spence is a talented actor. To be cast in this role and make it believeable is not an easy task. Joel is one of those guys who you swear you have seen before but never knew who he is. He has had one-off roles in a couple dozen shows including Big Love, 10 Things I Hate About You, My Name Is Earl, Miss Match, Reno 911!, and How I Met Your Mother to name a few. This is his first role which has lasted more than 2 episodes.
