Muse's The Kennedys

3 April 2011 on reelzchannel and 10 April 2011 on History Television

The Kennedys are the closet thing to a royal family that the republic of United States of Americais has ever had. The Kennedys is a Canadian mini-series that focuses on the life of John Fitzgerald Kennedy Senior, more commonly known as JFK, the 34th President of The United States Of America. There is controversy galore about this mini-series. The American History channel came on board the project a little bit into it and they along with some very reputible historians had final say over every single word in the script and over every single frame of the video. They approved it all. They then publicly denounced the project and said that it was not fit for broadcast on their channel as it didn't meet their standards. The American media went ape-shit over this. The owner of Muse Entertainment, Michael Prupas, publicly called History and its owners AETN liars. His words were very biting and targetted but because he is in Montreal his remarks went greatly unnoticed by the hyper American media. But that is just the intro.

Prior to even casting the series there was a massive attack from many politically-liberal American historians who simply refused to accept a politically-conservative creating such a work. There were cries that it was malicious, grossly inaccurate, misleading, and all sorts of like claims. This based off a rough preliminary script. Even the man who wrote the biography that was used as principal source for the mini-series has turned to say the mini-series is wrong. And still by this time not a single frame of film had been shot.

As to the broadcast of the series in the USA, it was first to go on History, and then there was Showtime, starz, FX, The 101 Network, who all publicly rejected the mini-series. Who knows how many other networks and cable channels were asked if they were interested. After some uncertainty there came out of nowhere reelz channel, a niche cable channel with a focus on movies that are a little different. Hooray! There is an American broadcaster. But wait. reelz channel demanded exclusive world premiere rights or they weren't interested. This is where i personally get upset. Shaw Media was the initial commissioner of the mini-series and they along with Muse put up most of the money to make the mini-series and they were to premiere it in March 2011 on History Teleivion in Canada. Through some dealing of which i don't know there came reelz premiering The Kennedys on 3 April and showing it all within the 3-10 April and History Television getting to have the English Canadian premiere on 10 April. I note the langauge because the mini-series premieres in Canada in French on Super Ecran on 3 April.

All this and still The Kennedys has not been publicly shown.
