Episode 33
<-- 18 January 2006 -->
Alice and Geoff Gregg (from Episode 30) walk through a park, looking for Geoff’s wife, Bridget (from Episode 304). They find her looking for her shelter – a half-collapsed cardboard box. She’s doing worse than before; she’s no longer living at the group home where she was ordered by the court to stay. Bridget tells them she’s been to the house to see her daughter – something else she’s not supposed to do. When Alice tells her she needs to stay away from her house, Bridget runs away from them.
Darcy Cole is in Bail Court, charged with failure to appear on a charge he says he wasn’t actually arrested for. When the allegations are read, he becomes even more baffled. He argues that he couldn’t be guilty; he was at work at the time he was supposedly arrested for possession. Jack figures it’s a case of mistaken identity and asks Darcy if there is anyone that can bail him out. Darcy tells him his father can but warns him, “He’ll think it’s my fault somehow. He might just go crazy, make things even worse…”
Bridget’s been arrested, and Alice meets with her in the cells. Bridget was in a park; she mistook a father and his child for Geoff and her baby, Emma, and took the child to get some ice cream. Alice asks her if she’s still taking her medication; Bridget says no and believes her doctors are giving her birth control in disguise of medication.
Elliot meets with Harold Sebastian and Harold’s mother, Doris, in his office. He’s still dressed in Goth garb and makeup from Episode 307, and everyone has their own critical opinion about his appearance. Harold is charged with assaulting his former friend, Randy. Doris is still very fond of Randy and often compares his success to Harold’s perceived failure. Harold figured that after all he’d done for him, Randy at least owed him a decent reference letter.
Zona meets with Giselle (from Episode 27), a hooker who was asked by an undercover cop for a blowjob. After receiving the blowjob, the cop arrested her. Giselle insists that she was entrapped and explains to Zona that since filing a complaint against the cop he’s been harassing her non-stop. Zona gets some advice from Jack on how to deal with his. Later, in a pre-trial hearing in Fraser’s office, Zona and Giselle meet with Judge Fraser and Crown Rogan in Fraser’s office. By appealing to his ego, Zona is able to convince Fraser to withdraw the charges.
Ronnie visits the Cole house in search of Darcy’s father, Trevor. When he finds out that Darcy is in jail for a failure to appear on a possession charge, Trevor flips out. He runs upstairs in a rage and chases his other son, Carson, out of the house.
Alice is talking with Jack about her sister Trish. Alice is worried that she hasn’t answered her phone calls in over a week. Jack says she’s probably with his friend, Bill Bauer, who Alice thinks is a shyster. Alice gets a call from her credit card company asking if she’s in a Golftown store buying a $3250 set of golf clubs. She checks her wallet, and one of her cards is missing. Trish has stolen her credit card.
In the bathroom at Old City Hall, Carson is cleaning up his face from a beating his father just gave him. He tells Jack that the pot was his and that he panicked and posed as his brother when the cops found it. When Jack asks why, Carson tells him he’s planning to join the police force and can’t have a record. His dad, who insists that Carson become a cop, insisted that Carson let Darcy take the heat. But when the time came for his court appearance, he got scared and blew it off. He agrees to confess and trade places with his brother.
In Mental Health Court, Kaye reads the allegations against Bridget. The mother of the child she abducted is in the gallery and is very worried that Bridget will be released before she’s properly and effectively treated, but Malone explains Bridget’s cycle: “She gets sent to hospital, she gets better, she gets released, and because she’s better she stops taking her medicine and she gets worse again. You see our problem?” Now she’ll be going back into custody. Geoff begs Malone not to give up on her, and Malone says he won’t. He starts to cry, and when Bridget sees him crying she begins to comfort him: “Shhh… everything will be fine… Kiss Emma for me, tell her I love her.”
When Jack tells Darcy that Carson’s willing to confess and trade places with him, Darcy refuses. He’s afraid of his father’s reaction if he interferes with Carson becoming a policeman. In Plea Court, Darcy is pleading to the charges when Carson stands and tries to confess. When Trevor enters and sees this he loses his temper, furious that Carson wants to mess up his future. Trevor refuses to leave and winds up being taken down by Court Officers and charged with assault.
Alice arrives at Bill Bauer’s house to find Bill and Trish packing for a “business” trip to the Bahamas. Alice chastises Trish for stealing her credit card; Trish says she was only borrowing it. Bill says the golf clubs are for him, and tells Alice they’ll pay her back.
Doris and Randy are present at Harold’s plea hearing, and Harold is still furious. Fraser has a hard time getting over Elliot’s goth appearance. When Randy, the complainant, stands to say speak, Harold loses his temper. Fraser quiets him down, but when Randy suggests anger management counselling and community service, Harold jumps into the gallery and attacks Randy.
